Welcome to the Eva Ruchpaul Institute

The institute was founded by Eva Ruchpaul, in 1971, with the the intention to provide a skilled framework for the yoga teaching profession.

As a private higher education establishment, officially registered with the Académie de Paris, the institute has trained over a thousand teachers all over France and abroad.

The institute is dedicated to Hatha Yoga, researching the traditional foundations of this discipline, its pedagogy and its applications.

It responds to a current need :
The need for specific training of teachers with a view to assimilating and adapting Eastern thought to the data of the Western mode.

It is aimed at :

  • Amateurs wishing to learn Hatha Yoga and deepen their knowledge, with courses and workshops throughout the year,
  • Aspiring Hatha-Yoga teachers, with a three-year course and the possibility of a fourth year of mastery,
  • Hatha-Yoga teachers wishing to continue their development.

Testimonials

Why do I practice Yoga?

Antoine D.

« I made the decision to start practicing yoga after reading an article on the subject. I wanted to put an end to stress. For the past nine months, I have been dedicating one hour per week to tranquility, which in itself is already a very beneficial break. The breathing exercises in yoga have significantly improved my performance in the sports I practice alongside it. Yoga is not a magic potion, but its benefits are undeniable. They come naturally with regular practice and dedication. »

Paul B.

« Breathing more deeply, developing patience, self-esteem, and appreciation for others… and a greater zest for life. Feeling more relaxed, more at ease, yet more energized than at any other time during the week. Finding confidence, free from pressure or competition, among fellow students and a teacher who, little by little, naturally become friends. Constantly discovering new facets of postures once thought familiar, and through them, new aspects of oneself. Experiencing sensations that seem to come from elsewhere, triggered by profound and mysterious harmonies. Never wanting to miss a daily session again… a true gift that the body gives to itself. »

Amélie

« I have lived with a disability since birth, technically known as Cerebral Motor Impairment. To put it simply, my muscles have a mind of their own: I struggle to walk, balance is definitely not my strength, and at the slightest movement, my muscles tense up, contradicting what my mind wants to do, causing pain and fatigue. Far from being the embodiment of flexibility, I never imagined that yoga would one day be within my reach. After trying various alternative techniques alongside the mandatory physical therapy, I came across hatha yoga through word of mouth, driven by curiosity and a desire to explore. Yet, I still wondered what I was getting myself into… My first sessions were individual, allowing me to understand the technique, adapt the postures, and learn to work with my body and its contradictions. I had to discover my strengths, find my own balance, and gently engage with a body that I was not used to fully controlling. Over time, and surprisingly quickly, I was able to join a group class. Through this group, the shared experiences, and the warm atmosphere, I realized that everyone struggles with their own limits and abilities. I never felt watched or out of place—rather, I felt welcomed and supported. After a year of practice, I can now see the changes—and so can my physical therapist. My posture has improved, my movements are broader, pain is no longer a constant companion, and all of this has happened while feeling like I wasn’t making any effort (which is completely new for me!). I am truly surprised by the unexpected gifts my body has given me, just when I thought I knew it inside out. A few more years, and the Lotus position will no longer hold any secrets from me! »

Marie

« I practice yoga with joy—to explore, to reconnect with a dormant part of myself that gradually reveals and strengthens with each session. To age more gracefully, and on the teaching side, to embrace a new life project, a fresh momentum that I hope will carry me as far as possible while sharing with my students the optimism that yoga brings (among other things). My motivation has shifted and evolved compared to when I first began my training. »

Rose Anne

« Because it brings me serenity and allows me to live with full awareness. »

Maryse

« I practice yoga to live better with myself. »

Bernadette

« I practice yoga because, after a session, I feel filled with a quiet strength—one of confidence in myself, in others, and in life, without any pretense. It closely aligns with Wilhelm Reich’s motto: Humanity, Humility, Humor. »

Kathrine

« I practice yoga to learn how to manage my energy. »

Sylvie

« The need to take care of myself »

Lise

« To survive !!!!!!!!!!! »

Brigitte

« Without a doubt, to continue my journey in the pursuit of peace and serenity, so that my mind is no longer the master. A simple phrase that encapsulates so many benefits »

Christophe

« I practice yoga for the gentle and serene joy I sometimes feel during and after a session… »

Joëlle

« Simply put, in my case, it’s for better physical well-being, to make it easier to tame my body. And if I wanted to sound a bit pretentious, I might even say that yoga has now become a part of me!!!!!) »

Sylvie

« Yoga allows me to reconnect with myself, to pause, and to feel deeply aligned—a sense of wholeness, of simply being in the right place. It brings me a personal balance that supports me in my daily life and relationships »
